Municipal Water Treatment

Municipal water treatment for Public Utilities Board, Singapore - 100,000m3/day

The importance of good drinking water in maintaining human health was recognised early in history. However, it took centuries before people understood that their senses alone were not adequate judges of water quality.

Exactly why a clean and reliable water supply was needed was not known until the second half of the 19th century, when the nature of infectious diseases was first recognised and the ability of water supplies to transmit diseases such as cholera and typhoid became apparent. After this, concerns about the quality of drinking water focused on disease-causing micro-organisms (pathogens) in public water supplies.

Today, a secure drinking water supply is impossible without the use of water treatment technology in many locations.

Salcon has been bringing clean and safe drinking water to communities all over the world since 1980. "Revitalising" the world's water resources is a priority that Salcon addresses, as we understand that an efficient, reliable and safe water supply underpins economic and social development in communities.
